27 Night cruise sailing from Sydney to Hong Kong onboard Columbus.
Start your 27 night adventure in Australia’s most iconic port, Sydney, passing under Sydney Harbour Bridge and sailing past the Sydney Opera House. Enjoy another side to Australia with The Whitsunday Isles and Yorkey’s Knob for Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef. Papua New Guinea acts as a stepping stone up from the Southern to the Northern hemisphere as you venture from Australia to Japan where the frenetic energy of Tokyo clashes with the serene elegance of Kagoshima. Get your first taste of China with stops in Beijing and Shanghai before arriving in bustling Hong Kong.
Highlights of this cruise:
Approached through its striking harbour with the iconic Opera House and Harbour Bridge, Sydney is Australia’s most cosmopolitan city. Explore the sites around the harbour where you’ll find the Customs House and the Museum of Contemporary Art. The narrow streets and alleyways of this area contain many historic buildings, pubs, restaurants and shops.
Nestled in the north of Papua New Guinea, the coast surrounding Madang is idyllic with crystal clear waters and beautiful volcanic islands dotted off the shore. Be sure to take time to appreciate this beautiful paradise, your last chance to enjoy the best of the South Pacific before sailing back over the equator to the Northern Hemisphere.
Travel about an hour north of the port of Yokohama to experience the frenetic energy and bright lights of Japan’s capital, Tokyo. While the city is one of the most densely populated in the world, and is constantly evolving, it is also deeply rooted in its traditions and has areas of calm amidst the rush hour crush.
China’s largest city and, with over 24million inhabitants, the most populous city in the world, Shanghai is now also a global financial centre. Pretty much anything you could want is here, but, at the heart of this futuristic metropolis, there is still plenty of history: there’s the Old City to explore, as well as the Bund, the famous waterfront promenade lined with colonial-era buildings. The latter lies across the Huangpu River from the space age skyline of Pudong, which boasts two of the top 10 tallest buildings in the world – the 632m Shanghai Tower and 492m Shanghai World Financial Centre.
The city boasts a vibrant cultural scene that features the influences of its Chinese roots and colonial connections. Take the tram up to Victoria Peak where you’ll get a spectacular 360-degree view of the island. Board one of Hong Kong’s fabled sampan boats for a cruise through the bustling harbour. In Kowloon see the Chi Lin Nunnery, Nan Lian Garden and bustling Nathan Road.
