Cruise Description

Cruise South Africa Up Close with Azamara

Your journey begins in the global, multicultural metropolis of Cape Town. Following a relaxing day at sea, it’s a late-night stay in Port Elizabeth to meet some new friends at the animal sanctuary of Addo Elephant National Park. We sail to the charming 19th-century architecture and vibrant cultural scene of East London before another blissful day at sea. You’ll wake up in Maputo, Mozambique, where you can stroll the city’s most prominent street, Avenida Julius Nyerere. A late-night stay in Richards Bay gives you time to head out on a safari at Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park—home to Africa’s “big five” animals and the largest white rhino population on Earth—followed by Durban, to tour traditional Zulu homesteads. Two more days at sea take us to Mossel Bay, home of the Point of Human Origins, a rugged seaside cave with early evidence of human behavior dating back 162,000 years. We return to Cape Town for an overnight stay, giving you plenty of time to enjoy countless adventures from mountain peaks to rugged coasts.

Cruise Highlights

Set your sights on Cape Town’s iconic Table Mountain, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and ride the cable car back down.

In East London plan a trip to Inkwenkwezi Private Game Reserve and discover rare wild animals and flora spanning five distinct ecosystems for an unparallelled safari experience.

The Maputo Central Market, a must-see when visiting Maputo, has everything from the freshest exotic fruits and vegetables to nuts, fish, crafts, textiles, and more.

In Richards Bay, hop on a wildlife-viewing cruise in the Simangaliso Wetland Park World Heritage Site, home to birds, hippos, and Nile crocodiles.

In Durban, head to the southern end of the strip and get up close with amazing aquatic creatures at uShaka Marine World.

More time in Cape Town means you can dip your toes in both the Atlantic and Indian Oceans on one of the area’s many beaches.
